How Being Positive Helps us Stay Healthy

Happy

Hi ,

I posted the above picture on instagram a while back and it is still one of my favorite sayings. There are so many beautiful reasons to be Happy! This statement is so very true. We have so many things in our lives to be happy about, even in the mist of hardship. We can’t just focus on the negative or the bad things that are happening around us. If we do we will just keep falling deeper into a negative mindset. Let’s change our mindsets to focus on the positive.  A negative mindset can be damaging to your health and fitness.

Are you guilty of having a negative mind? Or do you know people that you know as soon as you talk to them your conversation will be filled with negativity. This can be very draining on both of you. I know life isn’t all rainbows and butterflies, and we all have bad days or negative thoughts. But its important not to let these situations bring us down.

Possible Health Benefits of a Positive Mind

Research has shown people with a positive thinking and optimism see the following benefits.

  • Increased life span
  • Lower rates of depression
  • Lower levels of distress
  • Greater resistance to the common cold
  • Better psychological and physical wellbeing
  • Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease
  • Better skills during hardships and times of stress.

3 Ways To Help You When You Are Stressed:

  1. Breathe: Take a long deep cleansing breath. (This is my favorite!) This can really help you calm down in a stressful situation. It also slows your heart rate and lowers your blood pressure.
  2. Laugh out Load: A good laugh doesn’t just make you feel happy. It also lowers cortisol, your body’s stress hormone, and boosts endorphins, which helps your mood.
  3. Get Moving: Working out can help ease depression and anxiety by helping the brain release endorphins (feel-good chemicals)
