MSC World America Balcony Cabin Tour: Can a Family of 4 Actually Fit Perfectly?
If you are planning a family cruise, one of the biggest questions you probably have is: “Are we all going to be completely cramped in one room?”
It’s a valid fear! Packing four people—especially when your “kids” are actually young adults—into a standard cruise room can sometimes feel like a recipe for chaos. But on our recent trip aboard the beautiful MSC World America, we put one of their balcony cabins to the test.
The verdict? It was an absolute game-changer. Here is exactly how we maximized the space and why it worked so well for our family of four.
The Layout: Where Everyone Slept
The setup of this room is incredibly smart. Instead of traditional pullman beds that drop down from the ceiling or a fold-out triton bed that takes up the entire floor space, this cabin features a converting couch.
- For us: We had a comfortable, spacious king-size bed.
- For the kids: The couch seamlessly converts into a sturdy set of bunk beds.
Now, our kids aren’t toddlers. Our son is 6’0″ and our daughter is 5’10”. We were a little skeptical at first about how two tall young adults would fare on a cabin bunk bed, but they both slept incredibly comfortably all week long! It gave them their own designated sleeping spaces without eating into the room’s main walkway during the day.
Smart Storage and a Modern Bathroom
When you have four grown adults sharing a space, clutter can take over fast. Luckily, MSC designed these cabins with storage in mind.
The closet has plenty of hanging space and several deep drawers. To keep things organized, we made sure to delegate—everyone got their own designated drawer and section to unpack their things right away.
The bathroom features a sleek, modern shower and surprisingly generous shelf space. It was easy to keep all of our toiletries organized and out of the way, which is a major win for a family of four.
Why the Balcony is Essential
If you are on the fence about upgrading to a balcony cabin, let this be your sign to do it.
When you have four people in a room, having that extra “outdoor living room” makes a massive difference. There is nothing quite like sitting out on the balcony, enjoying a quiet morning coffee, reading a book, or just watching the ocean waves go by [00:38]. It gives everyone a little extra breathing room and a place to escape for a peaceful moment.
Final Thoughts: A True Space Saver
Ultimately, this MSC World America cabin completely maximized every square inch of space without ever making us feel claustrophobic [01:10]. If you are looking for a comfortable, budget-friendly way to cruise with a family of four without needing to book two separate rooms, this layout is a winner.
