You have to try these DIY Dishwasher Tabs are so cute and easy to make! Option make a liquid version of this recipe if you would prefer but for today I am making the tabs.
What you will need for this recipe you may already have in your kitchen! =)
DIY Dishwasher Tabs
- 1 32oz Mason Jar
- 1 cup Washing Soda
- 1 cup Baking Soda
- 1 cup Coarse Salt
- 1/4 cup Hydrogen Peroxide
- 20 Drops Your Fav Essential Oils ( I suggest Lemon, Wild Orange, Purify, Lemongrass, Citrus Bliss, Grapefruit)
- In a large bowl mix all the dry ingredients together. Set aside.
- In another bowl mix wet ingredients together. The slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry mix. Mix together until it is like play snow and can be molded together.
- Take a 1-2 TBSP pack the mixer tightly into the spoon. Place onto a Silicone Baking Mat
- Let air dry for at least 24 hours to help them set up. Place in Mason Jars
or airtightglass container.
NOTE: I have found they are a little to large to place into the detergent holder. Fear not just place one or two at the bottom of the dishwasher!

- 1 TBSP doTERRA OnGuard Concentrate or Dr Bronner’s Baby Unscented Castile Soap
- 20 Drops Your Fav Essential Oils I suggest Lemon, Wild Orange, Purify, Lemongrass, Citrus Bliss, Grapefruit

- In a large bowl mix all the dry ingredients together. Set aside.

Hi Kristin, Great information. I also make my own tabs, a different recipe but we are trying to achieve the same goal, safer households! I make mine in a silicone mould and pop them out when set. I also wrap them up in old paper from my office so they won’t get stuck together in the jar. Anyway, keep up the good work!

Hi Gillian! My daughter’s name is Gillian! =) Ya! FOr making our homes safer!! =) I’ve tried to make them in the silicone before not this recipe but another one and I found that they puffed up too much and would crumble. I might try it again with this recipe!
