H2O also known as Water is so very important to our health. Water is the most abundant substance in our bodies.

Water makes up 55% to 75% of our total body weight.

Did you know that a 10% reduction of water in your body can make you sick?

  • A 20 % loss of water  can mean death. Although you can survive for weeks without food, you can survive only a few days without water.

According to a study  at Loma Linda University drinking at least  five glasses of water a day can lower the risk of heart disease, it also found that if people who drank five eight-ounce glasses of water daily were about half as likely to die of coronary heart disease as those who drank two glasses or less. The benefit was greater than that conferred from drinking a moderate amount of alcohol or taking aspirin, the study said. In fact, drinking water appears to confer as much a benefit to heart health “as stopping smoking or lowering cholesterol,” said Dr. Jacqueline Chan, the study’s lead author.

If you don’t drink an adequate amount of water each day our bodies will  actually store more fat. Which will cause weight gain.

Water helps you recover from our workouts, aids in fat-based fueling of muscles and provides for storage of water inside our cells.

Water helps our performance during workouts, if we don’t drink enough we will get dehydrated, and then our performance levels lower.

How much water do we really need to drink each day?

You should drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces each day.

Example: 150lbs  2 =  75oz of water per day.

Benefits of drinking more water?

1.) More Energy– Since your brain is mostly water, drinking it helps you think, focus and concentrate and be more alert. As an added bonus, your energy levels are also boosted!

2.) Weight loss- Removes by-products of fat, reduces eating intake (by filling up your tummy if consumed prior to meals), reduces hunger and raises your metabolism, plus water has zero calories!

3.) Healthier skin –Moisturizes your skin, keeps it fresh, soft, glowing and smooth.

4.) Workout Performance  & Recovery- Helps you recover from your workouts, aids in fat-based fueling of muscles and provides for storage of water inside your cells. When you become dehydrated, all of these functions become less effective and your performance levels lower.

5.) Hydration – For our bodies to function properly we need to make sure we are properly hydrated.

6.) Boosts Immune System – A water guzzler is less likely to get sick. And who wouldn’t rather feel healthy the majority of the time? Drinking plenty of water helps fight against flu, cancer and other ailments like heart attacks.

7.)  Natural Headache Remedy – Helps relieve and prevent headaches (migraines & back pains too!) which are commonly caused by dehydration.

8.) Mood Booster – When the body is functioning at its best, you will feel great and be happy!

9.) Helps Prevents Cramps & Sprains – Proper hydration helps keep your joints lubricated and muscles more elastic so joint pain is less likely.

10. Save Money! – Water is FREE! Even if you choose bottled/filtered water, it’s STILL cheaper than that high sugar and fat-filled latte!
